Intensity of spirit softened by time in a Pedro Ximenez cask is a lovely way to start the journey. Cask 72.61 Musk perfume and rum punch offers a lively and luscious side of the Speyside Lossie- tropical, floral and herbal accents with a rich texture will impress. Cask 77.47 Delicatessens and old libraries brings more of the season’s fare into the fold with spicy warmth, honey, toffee, figs and nuts. Transition to the islands with Cask 42.36 Lunch at the lighthouse. A peppery spice, cured meat and honeyed character provides a nuanced palate whilst a faint whiff of smoke evokes the coast from whence it came. Finish your holiday flight with a juxtaposition of peats. Start in Islay with Cask 53.250 Smoked salt orange peel and behold a complex dram with buttery sea and salty characteristics that evolves into a more fruit-forward affair with honeyed smoke. Conclude with a mainland peated offering in Cask 66.123 A strong personality. As the name suggests, this malt is full of flavour with heady smoke and loads of floral and herbal tones.
