January Outturn Offerings
Hello 2023! We hope your holiday season was filled with joy, laughter and plenty of single malt whisky! No matter what the New Year has in store, as a member of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society in America you will have access to the world’s best selection of single malts and will raise your whisky knowledge and appreciation to new heights. Let’s kick it off with New Year’s Rocking Drams! We’re cranking up the flavour dial with fourteen (14) specially curated Society casks from the Highland, Lowland and Speyside regions of Scotland for your cask strength pleasure. Scotland’s most spirited gift of uisge-beatha provides these unforgettable sensory experiences we all delight in and share with one another. From grain to glass, each cask is unique and invites us to discover the dynamically different expressions waiting for us in every dram. Celebrate the water of life in its purest form with a newly released Society cask or more!
Age abounds in January’s outturn with a quartet of stunning whiskies with very long maturation. From the Lowlands, 18-year-old Cask No. 5.86 Tutti beauty offers vibrant fruit and vanilla richness with plenty of nuance to keep you going back for more. From the Highlands, 18-year-old Cask No. 19.56 Walk the talk delves into cabinet spices, apple pie, banana flambee and more in this decadent sipper. From the Speyside, 19-year-old Cask No. 63.88 Terrace overlooking the sea delights the senses with tropical fruits, citrus desserts and runny honey in a silky delivery. From the Islands, 25-year-old Cask No. 42.73 Quiet confidence will gently caress the palate with the unparalleled complexity and nuance a quarter century in the cask affords.
Our New Year’s Rocking Drams! bundle is a ‘high-five’ of flavour to properly kick off 2023! And what a kick with Cask No. 46.124 An exotic wood carving…. 64% ABV and loads of big flavours to start your flight. Cask No. 100.35 A rollercoaster keeps the flavour wheel spinning with a parade of desserts, jams, mulling spices and smoked meats coming from a whisky matured in toasted French oak. Cask No. 95.55 ‘Makes your day’ is an accessible and delicious dram offering carefully placed complexities on the long and charming palate. Maturation in 1st fill PX sherry did this malt much justice! We now head to Orkney for Cask No. 4.312 Old-school with a twist and all its lightly peated pleasures - smoky Old-Fashioned cocktail on the nose gives way to smoked sausage and seafood on the palate. Cask No. 16.61 Under the ruadhar completes our flight in properly peated intensity. Tarred, charred and brimming with smoked meats, herbs and so much more to feast your senses on. Invite your favourite whisky tasting group over for this diverse quintet and start the new year with a big bang!
Last night, the Society’s Jenna Elie and Scott Brunow sat down to kick off the New Year in cask strength style! Click here to view their tasting of select bottles on our YouTube channel! Enjoy choosing those perfect ‘firsts’ for your 2023 collection and join us on an endless journey of whisky epiphanies
