Notes

We are on a passionate pursuit of the world’s most unique casks of whisky. Oftentimes, the casks that turn out to be the most memorable happen to be the most unexpected. Here are three (3) Hidden Gems selected by Jenna Elie  to consider for your home collection and for sharing this holiday season!

Great Scott! The nose of Cask No. 55.70 Royal Bouquet is just absolutely captivating! Bold notes of black tea, currants and honey swirl about in a whirlwind of aromas that keep your nose right in the glass. The palate sings with orange, clove and soft leather. Its viscosity is elegant, brimming with old books, more black tea and a slight tangy, greek yogurt like finish. This 15 year-old Speyside whisky is a wonder of a dram, that fits just perfectly into our Spicy & Sweet flavour profile.

After 8 years in an Oloroso butt, Cask No. 71.87 Cowboys at Dinner was sent into a heavy charred 1st fill puncheon for 2 years, resulting in a wild dance of flavour! Big breakfast notes of maple, pancakes and waffles, with fresh berries on top are followed by a rustic charred note of coffee and damson! This 10 year-old Speysider is a rare experience to enjoy a whisky that we typically never see in single malt form, and in a duo of casks that explode into a mouth-watering bounty of flavour!

Cask No. 135.42 Fun in the Sun hails from a distillery that is always on my watch list, and this Juicy, Oak and Vanilla dram is one worth celebrating! After 21 years in a first fill barrel, this whisky sinks into your taste buds with luscious notes of tropical fruits, like of banana, pineapple followed by  the warmth of taro. The palate makes you almost second guess yourself as you get notes of amaro, candied orange peel, and cocoa, shining like a finely executed cocktail! Magic in a glass, and a rich and decadent treat for those who pop the cork!

If ordered separately: Cask No. 55.70= $165; Cask No. 71.87= $120; Cask No. 135.42= $230.
