Cask No. 95.33
Full-bodied with a tannic grip
Speyside, Lossie
On the nose neat - plenty of freshly varnished wood which was soon followed by the sweetness of macerated red berries as well as a pot of steaming venison casserole with cranberries. On the palate - very full-bodied, surprisingly sweet like concentrated blackcurrant squash to start with, but then plenty of spice with a tannic grip veering towards a dry finish. Diluted; aromas of blackberry compote and cherry liqueur whilst to taste still some dryness but at the same time juicy and sweet like a Yupi Gummy Candy Strawberry Kiss. After 12 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead we transferred this whisky into a second-fill charred red wine barrique.
