Cask No. 71.80

Powershake

Speyside, Lossie

We were immediately impressed by this dram. A big, concentrated and textual profile on the nose that felt like some kind of guava-scented, high performance energy drink. Then more tertiary aromas of white mushroom, truffle oil, vanilla custard slice, camphor and butter bean hummus. Reduction brought syrupy tinned pineapple juices, crushed oatcakes baked with honey, oatmeal flapjacks with apricot chunks, diced candied citrus peels and young dessert wines. The neat palate was superbly thick and weighty in the mouth. Olive oil, pineapple chunks, camphor, spicy hot cross buns, cherry bubble-gum, zingy strawberry sherbet and blood oranges studded with cloves and cinnamon. With water we got aged mead, pollens, hibiscus tea, barley water, malt loaf and old school bitter ales with a dollop of heather honey.
