Cask No. 1.216
Cereal killer
Speyside, Spey
A surprisingly mature and invigorating nose. Immediately citrus dominated with lemon jelly and lemon bonbons. Then custard creams, cornflakes dusted with icing sugar, pineapple cubes, ointment, unsalted pistachios, hazelnut praline, glace cherries, fruit loops and lucky charms. Reduction brings out a blast of petrol, gorse and flints. Then lime oils, ink wells, pebbles, copper coins, wool and chalk. Some bitter lemon and quinine in the background. In the mouth there's an initial prickle of white pepper and paprika followed by fruity red chilli, brown bread, hot sauce, multivitamin tablets, rhum agricole, hawthorne, olive oil and mustard powder. Reduction offers heather, pollen, dried sage, thyme, white mushrooms, turmeric, baking soda, graphite oil, marjoram and toasted pitta bread.
