Notes

We are on a passionate pursuit of the world’s most unique casks of whisky. Oftentimes the casks that turn out to be the most memorable happen to be the most unexpected. Here are three (3) Hidden Gems selected by Jenna Elie to consider for your home collection and for sharing:

A whisky made for a Queen (quite literally!), Cask No. 88.28 Big, complex and impressive! offers up the best of both worlds! The nose of this 'Juicy, Oak and Vanilla' Speysider jumps out of the glass with hops and herbs, like a pub in the forest. The plate follows with bubble gum sweets, star fruit and creamy limoncello! More earthy forest floor and dried herbs wrap this big, complex and impressive dram up into a package that is worth opening!

Imagine eating overripe peaches and cream in a perfume shop, and then walking out to stroll on a Spring day in Provence when the fields of lavender are swelling the skies with their soothing aromas. Like a good book, Cask 9.228 Picnic in the grove will take you there! Along with these transportive aromas come a palate of almond cakes, malted milk balls and Brazil nuts! A waxy and rich dram perfect for enjoying a warm day or a cool night!

I may be cheating here, as it is no secret why this is a whisky of my daydreams! Cask 135.43 Whisky Daydreams fills my cup in more ways than one. The nose offers an amuse-bouche of amber and sandalwood, truly luxurious and decadent. A freshly cut bunch of violets walks its way across my palate and then dances a tango of leathers and linens, and a bowl over ripe fruits on a cold night. Polished wood and a hint of old books erupt into a finish of olive oil rum cake, what a delight! I dare say 21 years in this 1st fill ex-bourbon barrel was just the trick to make this dram as magical as it is!

If ordered separately: Cask No. 88.28= $145; Cask No. 9.228= $155; Cask No. 135.43= $230.
