It’s the Holiday Season and this time of year has not disappointed with some exceptional casks available to our members! After scouring our website, I have chosen three Hidden Gems available to please not only yourself but also your loved ones! Keep these casks for your own pleasure or give them as gifts to those in your life not on the “Naughty List.”

Let’s get the ornament rolling with 8-year-old Highland Cask No. 122.52 Green eyed beastie in our often overlooked Young and Spritely flavour profile. These pack a punch to the palate and blind I always feel like these are older than they actually are. Surprisingly the nose tingles with a malty, vanilla, tropical fruit and a slight spiciness. Neat the palate is overtaken with a peppery spice, floral notes, and a citrusy tropical juiciness! Add some water to tone down the spice, add sugar cookie and bring out more Juicy Fruit gum.

Make Santa’s “Nice List” this year with Cask No. 9.240 Silky smooth and sensually sweet. An excellent example of our Sweet Fruity and Mellow flavour profile, this 18-year-old Speyside will leave you begging for more. The nose is brimming with peaches, nuts, white chocolate and a slight tobacco. First sip overwhelms the palate neat with melons, stewed peaches, tobacco and rosehips all soaking in a vanilla crème. Water brings on more cream and baklava as well as a slight pepper spice. The finish lingers long enough to see Santa coming down the chimney.

Finally, the gift that keeps on giving just like the “Jelly of the Month Club.” This 16-year-old Cask No. 6.64 Take to the floor in our Deep Rich and Dried Fruits profile, spent 13 years in a bourbon hogshead and 3 years in a Spanish oak Oloroso hogshead. The nose explodes with dark chocolate, spiced fruit cake, and a bowl of nuts. A dry stick of cinnamon swirling in warm apple cider with a bite of rich chocolate fudge greets the palate without water. Dilution brings out more oak, tobaccos and dark fruits.
