About Take Me to the Chippy: An Orkney-born 20-year-old single malt that exudes the core of ‘heather and honey’ peat we look for from the distillery whilst increasing peat appeal from maturation in an ex-Islay casks. This is deeply complex island malt and one of the very best we’ve tasted from Distillery 4!
Tasting Panel Note: Secretly what we all yearn for as we dine black tie, the Panel were handed a burgeoning bag of chippy chips with salt and a dash of balsamic, topped with crispy seaweed and chilli jam. It'll be all right on the night, after all. The palate of this paper-wrapped meal was full of seaweed, sunflower oil and salt-encrusted potato chips, with a side of mussels poached in 80 shilling ale and clementine juice. Water served to add a squeeze of lemon, buttered corn bread and a bowl of crab and wakame salad, leading the Panel to extol its taffy-like texture and full body.
Members Note: The initial aroma is a captivating blend of sea mist and mustiness, evoking a sense of coastal antiquity…On the palate, this spirit offers a smooth and luxurious texture…The finish is delicate and graceful, gradually fading away, leaving a lingering impression that invites contemplation and savoring.
