The nose kicked off with fresh cut grass, hay and honey on oatcakes; then we got caramel sauce on ice-cream and chocolate sprinkles on banana split; finally some varnished wood that merged into wood spices. The palate was all sweetness and spice – caramel wafer, chocolate chip cookies, spun sugar, gingerbread, hot cross buns and a finish of spiced muscovado. The reduced nose was sweetly seductive – chocolate-coated foamy bananas, dolly mixtures, Jap Desserts and lemon and honey tea. The palate now turned slightly floral, but with abundant milky chocolate sweetness (cocoa, Banania), with the gentlest of spices (chilli, cardamom) tingling the finish.
