Cask No. 54.50
Expensive perfume on a fruity tart
Speyside, Spey
Like an expensive perfume it expressed a multitude of floral fragrances with a careful balance of soft and attractive fruits. Sweet apple blossom and wisteria harmoniously integrated with clementine, nectarines, black grapes and plum skins. There was a sweet and malty note like oatcakes and lemon sponge with soft icing but also with the tartness of marmalade and quince jelly. The palate developed this fresh edge into gooseberry tart and crab apple jam with the distinctive tingly warmth of fresh ginger. Then sweetness again as honey and toffee combined with orange liqueur before nutmeg and cooling menthol appeared on the finish.
