International Spirits Competition 2024 GOLD MEDALIST

In celebration of Festival Season in the Highlands 2024

About Umami Mania!: Our final US Exclusive cask for the festivals is a must in your whisky collection…. Did we save the best for last?! You’ll be the judge but be warned judges from the UK’s top spirits competition already fell hard for this one! Its gold medal only reinforces what we already knew - an impressive 17-year-old malt combining coastal charm and sherry richness from maturation in both ex-bourbon and PX sherry casks. A panoply of decadent desserts, cured meats and exotic spices are perfectly framed by the inherently crisp and coastal unpeated distillate. The only distillery on the Isle of Mull is responsible for this beauty and, thankfully, there is plenty to go ‘round! Remember that any order of 3 or more Society bottles will receive FREE GROUND SHIPPING in the continental US! Curate your own Festival tasting from other outstanding 2024 Festivals US-exclusives and Rare Releases. All are outstanding casks to choose from…. Gather your friends and pop some corks together, the festivals must go on!

Tasting Panel Note: Butter melted as it swirled in a mug of hot cocoa, served with a sprinkle of coconut flakes and a chunk of cinder toffee. Fruity notes then met fine oils from dried pineapple and waxy apples merging with Iberico ham. Rich flavours on the tongue soothed the soul; pork cheeks braised in sticky Pedro Ximenez sherry arriving alongside vanilla sponge cake, juicy raisins and brown sugar-topped pears poached in Amarone red wine. Water released a cacophony of pleasing spices, the Amarone now mulling with fig syrup, cinnamon and oranges. The umami textures of miso soup subsequently blended into stewed rhubarb before a sweet finish embraced salted caramel, rum and raisin ice cream, and almond honey shortbread. After spending 14 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead this was transferred to a first fill American oak Pedro Ximenez hogshead for the remainder of its maturation.
