The initial nose displayed notes of red kola, Tiger, lanolin, liquorice root and stewed dates in armagnac. Also some suggestions of sour cherry beers, dark chocolate and toasted walnuts. A wee bit of water brought out brown bread, pumpkin seed oil, hessian and cough mixture sweets. The neat palate kicked off with mole sauce, chilli infused dark chocolate, aniseed and crushed cloves. We found water gave up notes of herbal ointments, bitter marmalade, marzipan and treacle pudding. Suggestions of mulling spice, crusted port and strawberry jam too. At 13 years of age, we combined selected casks from the same distillery. We then returned the single malt into a variety of different casks to develop further. This is one of those casks.
