San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2024 GOLD MEDALIST
About Hive in a fantasy playground: Our rarest of the outturn, this cask is one of a finite number left in the world. The distillery no longer exists but we found beautiful whisky to share with you – lusciously tropical with orchard fruits, quince, marshmallow and exotic spices. The SF World Spirits Competition loved it too, awarding it a GOLD MEDAL!
Tasting Panel Note: The nose had us imagining jelly babies playing with glacé cherries and marshmallows, while honey dripped from an apple tree hive on to lilies below. We naughtily stole their marshmallows and ate them, followed by key lime pie and sauternes-poached pears; then we defiantly puffed candy cigarettes while blossoms fell from the same apple tree. The reduced nose discovered berry tart with custard, gorse flowers and chamomile, quince jelly, melon and popcorn. The palate now had pink wafers, apples, pears, lemon peel, peppermint and coriander seeds warming the finish. At 21 years of age, we combined selected casks from the same distillery. We then returned the single malt into a variety of different casks to develop further. This is one of those casks.
