Coconut curry down the Douro valley

When we poured this dram, a lovely sweet spice filled the air like being in a kitchen where plenty of Indian dishes were being cooked. We then tried one of them; mild spiced aubergine and coconut curry with cumin, mustard and curry leaves – mmm so good and so tasty! With a little water we imagined being on a traditional Portuguese wooden cargo boat (rabelo) sailing the Douro valley to the city of Porto sipping white Port wine whilst nibbling on white chocolate toffee cashew nuts. After 14 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead we transferred this whisky into a first-fill Madeira hogshead.
