The nose combines the sweet delights of Portuguese egg custard tarts, manuka honey and banana bread with sweet hay, cider presses, plum brandy, and beeswax polish. The palate kicks off with Riesen chocolate chews and bramble jam, extends to toasted oats and tropical fruits and winds up with warm spices (nutmeg, ginger, white pepper), cask char and something vaguely like chewing ganja leaf. Apart from some pipe tobacco, the reduced nose is mainly sweet – vanilla custard, meringues, rum fudge, and boozy prunes. The palate now discovers fruit salad with cream, pain au raisin and stroopwafels, finishing with toasted oak and stem ginger.
