Notes
About An orchestra of zing: This is one of those perfect mid-afternoon (on a weekend, of course) sippers that is lively and really sings – or zings, as it were - on the palate. Distillery 28 is known commercially for a plethora of finishes, but we get to experience this lovely malt in all its ex-bourbon glory.
Tasting Panel Note: The aromas fizzed like apple sherbet and cinnamon sprinkled over fresh pineapple tarts. Then lime curd and custard joined the fun, wrapped in pistachio croissants with raspberry jam. Oily lemon zest whipped up an orchestra of zing on the tongue, before herbal dry vermouth and banana crisps arrived to beat back the heat from fresh chillies. Water was welcomed, however it encouraged lemon and honey to provoke menthol and camphor airway refreshments. The heady aromas veered towards cut grass and tea tree before sweetening with honeysuckle blossom. Yet the lemon was still not finished, as it now teased pine sap, ginger snaps and custard tarts in a finish bound by toasted granola.
