Tasting Panel Notes
There was an initial robustness to the nose, led by trail mix, salted almonds, walnut bread and mum’s homemade malt loaf, still warm from the oven. As it developed in the glass sweetness took over, with deep layers of treacle tart, chantilly cream and sweet cinnamon swirls. On the palate, we drifted into clouds of marshmallows and sherbet, with playful notes of aniseed balls and the comfort of a hot malty drink. A splash of water had us all intrigued, as the robust notes immediately softened to unveil orange peel, crema catalana, cherry honey, beeswax, jam tarts and the cosy charm of bread and butter pudding. At 10 years of age, we combined selected casks from the same distillery. We then returned the single malt into a variety of different casks to develop further. This is one of those casks.
