Notes

About Fragile and unvarnished: We love second-fill barrels, and the light touch this particular cask imparts on the distillate pulls all the right levers for us. Typically fruit-forward, this expression draws on earthier notions, like walking into a freshly planted flower garden. If you're looking for more jazz and less rock'n'roll in your glass, this is your dram!

Tasting Panel Note: A lovely take on this typically very fruity make, with a lighter-touch second fill cask. The nose opened with jasmine flowers, white tea, sandalwood and dusty pollens – with a hint of oatmeal and honeyed porridge detected as well. We found this light, playful and elegant. With water we got a surprising vegetal side emerging, with white asparagus, then an earthy potting shed, cigarette papers and vase water. The palate when neat was all about straw, baled hay, yellow flowers and pink lemonade, with a delicate and intricate sweetness at play. Water brought clay and mineral oils, a nicely mouth-coating texture and some lovely flavours of barley water and shilling ales.
