Cask No. 12.53

Going crazy in a bakery

Speyside, Lossie

We found a very appetising cake shop on the nose (lemon drizzle cake, golden syrup sponge, chocolate gateau) with black peppercorns and orange zest on the side. On the palate, we moved on to carrot cake, peaches, honey, wine gums and coconut cream, with a warm, woody, tingling finish. The reduced nose took us to a gorse-covered hillside where we sucked contentedly on fruity shisha pipes – then someone dropped crème brûlée on his waxed leather boots. The palate found waxy fruits, polished red apples, gooseberry jam and dried apricots – we also got cinnamon swirls, sticky toffee, vanilla and tobacco – complex and top-notch.
