Sweet as the cup of Circe
Speyside, Spey
The nose is daisy fresh and starlight bright – some lively sherbet and Sprite notes but mainly afternoon tea in a summer garden (flowers, French Fancies, vanilla sponge and citronella oil). The initial taste is ultra sweet – jelly beans and pear jam, but the finish has warm tingles of stem ginger, black pepper and chilli. The reduced nose introduces Zen and the art of flat-pack furniture, three fruit marmalade, blackcurrant and apple crumble and hints of Imperial Leather. The reduced palate is as sweet and seductive as the cup of Circe – but leaves dry oak, leather and rhubarb and ginger warmth behind.
