Cask No. 9.228

Picnic in the grove

Speyside, Spey

We found delicate scents of perfumed handkerchiefs, flowering shrubs and freshly sanded wood; lemon drizzle cake, banana loaf, honey and cream puffs, sherbet straws and mint imperials. The palate started with Battenberg, maple and pecan Danish pastries, jelly beans and raspberry jam, before discovering pencil shavings, liquorice, gingerbread and sugar-coated fennel seeds. The reduced nose had us sitting on a wooden bench in a sunlit lemon grove tasting Black Magic chocolate brazils – a delightful combination. In reduction, the palate suddenly exploded with fruit – tropical cocktails, watermelon, dragon fruit, kumquat, pomegranate, zesty orange and maraschino cherries – all with a pleasant waxy finish.
