Cask No. 68.71

Rather scrumptious

Highland, Southern

A rather scrumptious start combined marmalade, marzipan and toasted pine nuts with prunes soaked in armagnac, orange muscat dessert wine and charred oak. The palate was a dense and rich affair that displayed brazil nuts, jam on oatcakes and the seductive spices of cloves, star anise and crystalised ginger dipped in dark chocolate. A dash of water delivered further dried fruits and nuts but now with cashews and satsumas mixing with orange chocolate, toasted oak and fresh hops. The palate was treacly and creamy with hints of pedro ximenez sherry in lapsang souchon tea and green herbs that joined bergamot and peppermint on the finish. After spending 10 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead this was transferred to a 1st fill oloroso hogshead for the remainder of its maturation.
