Tasting Panel Note

About In a dwam dram: Cask No. 68.127 ‘In a dwam dram’ is a leading character in the coming-of-age drama film, The Last Summer. What a stunner this is! Australian Muscat is a type of white wine made from the Muscat grape variety in aq Australia. The grape is known for its fragrant, aromatic, and sweet characteristics, making it perfect for creating rich, dessert-like wines. When used for whisky maturation, Australian Muscat casks offer a sweet, aromatic influence, bringing a touch of fruitiness and richness to the whisky, making it a delightful addition to the aging process. That’s all on display with this welterweight.

Tasting Panel Note: The neat nose on this one was immediately malty, fresh and dominated by rich aromas of cereals, nuts and pine wood. The Panel noted elements including toasted pine nuts, olive oil, dried rosemary and hibiscus. With reduction we got freshly sawn pine wood, spiced herbal teas, incense, potpourri and a more vivid waxy note. The palate opened with menthol qualities such as eucalyptus oils, dried mint and mint choc chip ice cream. We also found some lanolin and the sweetness of victoria sponge cake. Water brought flower honey, camphor, mead and dried flowers. An underlying sense of caramel sweetness lingered into the aftertaste. This was matured in a bourbon barrel for 10 years before being transferred to a second fill Australian muscat barrique.
