Plenty of associations came to mind nosing neat, red apples wrapped in wax paper, banana fritters dusted with icing sugar as well as carrot and coriander soup with a dollop of crème fraiche. On the palate we needed refreshment from the heat either by a traditional Andalusian gazpacho or a Twister ice cream lollipop (pineapple and lime flavoured on the outside and strawberry flavoured on the inside). Following the addition of water, we sat in a rattan chair wearing a fedora and enjoying a slice of malt loaf with butter and runny honey along with a cup of African red bush tea.
