Notes

About Bienvenue à la pâtisserie: Distillery 60 has been the backbone of an extremely popular blended whisky for over 100 years. After tasting a cask like this one, that kind of tenure makes perfect sense. The sweet, citric, honeyed and herbal notes that shine through this 2nd fill hogshead are simply mesmerizing.

Tasting Panel Note: Mouths watering, the Panel entered a pâtisserie, with its enticing aromas of lemon meringue pie, banana bread and honey-glazed apple doughnuts, as well as roasted chestnuts and pecan snowballs. On the palate, we first bit into a warm piece of apple cinnamon tart and honey on buttered crumpets before a grassy, peppery note with the intense citric fruit flavour of grapefruits and lemons appeared. Following reduction, we poured a glass of cloudy lemonade and had a croissant filled with sweet apricot jam. To taste, we tucked into millefeuille puff pastry, toffee apples and an apricot custard danish. In the finish was a peppery note, like in a spicy honey and grapefruit margarita.
