Notes

About Breakfast sweets: Cask No. 59.88 ‘Breakfast sweets’ is a lead character in Across the Finish Line. This 17-year-old single malt from the Highland was matured in a 2nd fill European oak shery puncheon with a heavy toast, medium char—or HTMC. We love that the original oloroso sherry notes are coming through while married with a more subtle heavy toast, medium char sherry cask. It’s indulgent without being overpowering—truly a 'breakfast sweet' for your evening pour
Tasting Panel Note: The aroma reminded us of sugary breakfast tea, pineapple upside-down cake, panettone and potpourri. On the palate neat, a lively citrus flavour was tempered by tutti-frutti sweetness, rose water, and dandelion and burdock. The finish held a savoury surprise with jarred artichokes marinated in a rich, nutty olive oil. Water added cardamom, honey and blood oranges alongside green olives stuffed with feta. The taste had the pleasant sweetness of lemon juice-drenched crêpes, candied apples, woodruff ice cream and cinnamon-spiced mint candies. Following 12 years in an oloroso butt, we transferred this whisky into a second fill, heavy toast, medium char European oak puncheon.
