Saint Andrew's Day 2024 Celebratory Cask

About Canvas sails and oiled decking: Saint Andrew’s Day will be celebrated on November 30th and today’s release celebrates Scotland’s Patron Saint with an ‘Oily & Coastal’ Highland single cask befitting a fisherman such as himself. Cask No. 52.46 Canvas sails and oiled decking evokes the salty sea air and coastal atmosphere Saint Andrew would have called home thousands of years ago fishing the Black Sea. While the story of how he became Scotland’s Patron Saint offers a few different versions, it is agreed his charitable spirit lives on in the Scots and Scottish diaspora who celebrate this day. Share a glass, raise a glass and toast one another with this stunning single cask!

Tasting Panel Note: A strong gust flapped the tall canvas sails and whipped up strong aromas of protective wood oil from the ship's decking. The sea air blended with the bouquet from our fino sherry, as we spread clotted cream over polenta cake. Stepping into the galley, the tongue tingled with beef broth laced with chillies, causing us to reach for slices of underripe mango, guava, papaya and fresh pear. After adding water we found ourselves deeper below deck, breathing air that was thick with the smell of lamp oil, woollen blankets and rags that were used for polishing brass. Finally the chilli beef was served up, paired with mango chutney and followed by chocolate limes.
