A stunning nose, beautifully old style, scented, complex and superbly elegant. We found harmonious notes of waxes, brittle coastal notes, sandalwood, mixed dried herbs, samphire browning in salty butter and lemon cough drops. A perfect balance of distillate character and maturity. Water unveils a wealth of subtle crystallised exotic fruits, fruit teas, vapour rubs, old furniture oils, dried flowers and things like bracken and beach pebbles. The palate exploded with citronella wax, lemon peel, barbour grease, lanolin and myriad notes of herbal and exotic fruit teas. Superbly fresh, vibrant and composed - even at this age! With water we felt this could easily be from a nearby distillery from the town of Brora. Extremely robust, waxy, mineral, rich and mouth-coating. Pollens, long aged dry Riesling, petrol and vividly complex. Stunning whisky!
