Notes

About An afternoon's itinerary: This fruit bomb of a dram just may be the perfect way to spend a cool weekend’s afternoon. Unpacking the bolder cask-derived aromas and flavours as well as the fruity and floral ones will offer you much pleasure. Whisky lovers always have great things to say about this distillery, and this malt shows you why!

Tasting Panel Note: Initial nosing suggested cloudy apple juice, abundant blossoms, peach schnapps and cherry tart. We also found barley sugars, olive oil and gorse flower, with shoe leather giving a touch of firmness in the background. With reduction it became creamier, with custard, oat and honey biscuits, putty, lanolin and resinous fir cones. The neat palate displayed some surprisingly tropical notes up front, with hints of fruit salad and bubblegum, plus some lemon jelly, grapefruit and pineapple. A fruity surprise, we agreed. With water that fruitiness remained in place but the texture became a little oilier and more mouth-coating, as we found jellied forest fruits, candy canes, mint bonbons and hints of Victoria sponge cake and pistachio ice cream.
