Notes

After two years in a European oak barrique which previously held Golden Promise American single malt, this was transferred into a first-fill apple brandy barrique. The nose had candy corns, cream soda, sour cherry pieces in dark chocolate – and ‘clove-flavoured stewed apple served in a cowboy boot’. The palate held chilli, cinnamon and liquorice heat, sweetly balanced by toffee apples, spun sugar and syrup. The reduced nose suddenly produced menthol, muscle rub, wintergreen, birch and sandalwood oil – quite an aromatherapy session. Water tamed the wild stallion palate to a gentle trot of raisin pastries, Boston baked beans and creamed corn. Yeeehhaaaw!
