There is peat up front but it is soft and subtle with underlying notes of brown butter, roasted nuts, heather ale and fragrant herbal essences. With water there is a big note of lemons grilling on a BBQ, violets, swimming pools and lapsang souchong. The palate possesses an immediate, big drying smokiness. Lots of aniseed, smoked monkey nuts, rapeseed oil and bashed fennel seeds. Dilution makes it creamier and more syrupy in texture. A big, generous sweetness with notes of white marshmallow, juicy fruit chewing gum, orange oils and dried mango slices.
