Cricket bat in the mouth

The nose starts off with vanilla custard and nougat, then some fruit creeps in, suggestive of plum and cherry pie and tinned mandarin segments, then someone sneaks up behind with a cricket bat. Suddenly, the cricket bat is in your mouth – reverberating wood and spices – cinnamon, anise, liquorice, Victory V – saved by the sweetness of nut brittle and cereal bars with nuts, seeds and dark chocolate. The reduced nose gets clove rock, Dentyne and distant camphor – once again patience is rewarded by fruits – pineapple and pear. The palate is sweeter and more balanced with water – spiced nuts, mulled wine and lebkuchen.
