Cask No. 91.34

Biting on a bung

Speyside, Spey

The dram fairy had been flitting around the room cleaning and polishing furniture – as a reward she got purple jelly beans, a sugar lump and some lemon tonic. The sweet, woody palate had lemon drizzle cake, liquorice allsorts and brown sugar; ginger, siftings of cinnamon and a shimmering shower of soft wood shavings. The reduced nose detected perfumed sun-cream on a gentle breeze, syrupy banana fritters and sugary, lemony pancakes. It then went slightly nutty with water – Brazil nuts, peanut brittle and sugared almonds, followed by an intriguing finish of mixed spice, ash and ‘biting on a bung’.
