Cask No. 54.46
Pining for fruit crumble
Speyside, Spey
The nose grabbed our attention with the particular prickle of white pepper and wasabi before yielding to the creamy butter pastry of an apricot Danish and the familiar fruit of pear drops. With a juicy tang we discovered apple and rhubarb crumble with generous helpings of vanilla custard, fresh peach and pineapple cordial all whilst enjoying a consistent backbone of fresh pinewood. Then floral notes, Turkish delight and sweet candyfloss with fluffy marshmallow and vanilla sponge before a balanced finished left us with old leather, cinnamon and the pleasant wood tannins of new pencils with just the slightest suggestion of mint.
Drinking tip: Add a dash of water for a fruity affair.
