Milkshakes and medicine
Speyside, Spey
Ripe fruits and syrupy cough medicine dominated the neat nose with pine tree needles and eau de cologne developing over time. Banana milkshake and creamy vanilla notes were subtle on the nose but intensified on the palate. It was mentholic and oaky to taste with spices and mint toffee, followed by a syrupy aftertaste. On reduction there were lighter notes - rose perfume and Turkish delight, but also a dry woodiness with new cardboard boxes and a sweet cough syrup that remained throughout. The palate now brought Oreo cookie milkshake with woody notes, cinnamon and Chinese spice tea. As one panellist exclaimed, "Delicious!"
