About Peat (feat. oak) single cask

Tasting Panel Note: The neat nose on this one immediately gave away a richly wood-influenced profile. Freshly smoked barley, beach bonfire smoke and Brunswick ham were all noted, along with smoked and peppered mackerel, wood char and smoked apple crisps. With reduction we detected a wee flash of carbolic acidity, then big ashy peat with impressions of lemons charring on a barbecue, damp straw bales in a shed, Arbroath smokie and wet kelp. The neat palate was clean and punchy with a pronounced smokiness, before sharper and fruitier components such as blood orange studded with clove, ginger, cinnamon and further notes of ham, seaweed and some rye bread spiciness. Water brought a lovely richness of smoked malt loaf, a fizz of dandelion and burdock, and more beach bonfire and smoky barbecue vibes that lingered into the aftertaste.
