Cask No. 112.85
‘Weird but brilliant!’
Highland, Southern
The nose was ‘weird but brilliant!’, like brightly coloured odd socks. Tutti frutti, brown sugar, nougat and desiccated coconut on the left, while the right spoke of potting sheds and forest floors – wood, earthy mushrooms, hedge clippings and herbs. The Demerara and toffee-sweet palate was smooth and juicy – muscat grapes, elderflower, pineapples, peaches, watermelon, mango and cloudy lemonade, with a chalky, woody finish. The reduced nose uncovered more spice – black pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon buns dusted with cocoa powder. The palate combined exotic fruits (lychee, banana, white peach) with sweet delights (chocolate, coconut, vanilla, manuka honey), then the finish had fresh, slightly resinous wood.
