A Welsh Adventure for Saint David's Day
Celebrate Saint David’s Day, the patron saint of Wales, with two (2) newly released Welsh whiskies! Wales has a long history of distillation dating back to the eighteenth century, but it wasn’t until the turn of the 21st century that a distillery made a lasting impact. Distillery 128 was the first to come along in a century and has been crafting exceptional Welsh whisky ever since. This distillery differs from most in its use of only one copper pot still for the entire distillation process. Scottish distilleries typically use two stills for distillation – the wash still and spirit still. Distillery 128 uses the Faraday Still that employs a series of perforated plates to help condense the vapors, yielding a pure spirit that will develop into a complex and flavourful whisky during maturation.
Cask No. 128.14 The tiger’s eye combines bold make from the Faraday still with full-term maturation in an Oloroso sherry cask for an indulgent tasting experience! The profile is redolent with juicy tropical fruits, gingerbread, chocolate and caramel with a buttery texture from start to finish. Cask No. 128.16 The magic Faraday tree entices with the concentrated aromas and flavours garnered from full maturation in a shaved, toasted and re-charred barrique. Tropical fruits persist on the nose and palate with jammy fruits, vanilla and accents of toffee and molasses coming through as well. These are big, expressive malts that offer loads of complexity…. Try them both in our Welsh Adventure bundle and become a Welsh whisky expert! Whether you have already tasted a Welsh whisky or not, here is a rare ticket to a fantastic flavour adventure, and a great chance to raise a glass to the spectacular single malts being crafted in Wales!
